The Artsmark Award

Endeavour are proud recipients of the Artsmark Silver Award. Our 2-year journey saw us embed art and culture into our curriculum.

What is the Artsmark Award?

Accredited by the Arts Council England, Artsmark aims to support schools to embed arts, culture and creativity across the curriculum to ensure that every young person has the opportunity to be creative, and to experience and participate in a diverse, high-quality cultural education.

Some of the activities we worked on:

Taking part in the Oxfordshire Arts Week with St Mary's Church in Barton with a colourful Noah's Ark display created with learners' and staff's colourful handprints that were combined to create a beautiful rainbow.

Our second year saw us proudly displaying our sensory collages depicting Toy Story characters for a display entitled ‘You’ve got a friend in me’ as part of the church's Friendship theme.

On both occasions, a group of students and staff enjoyed an afternoon seeing their artwork alongside those of other local artists.

At the end of the second year, we held our own small art exhibition so that parents and carers could see our learners' artwork inspired by the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, also known as 'the princess of polka dots'.

For the community part of this award we worked with residents at Townsend House and created a small village with painted models of the village church, neighbourhood centre and postbox.
