Wellbeing

The purple Wellbeing section of our curriculum wheel focusses on developing our students' ability to understand and express their feelings, to find strategies to enable them to self-regulate, alongside opportunities to engage in a range of physical and creative activities.

Activities

We offer a range of activities including:

  • Emotions can be difficult for our young people to understand but they are supported to express these using Zones of Regulation.  Each young person has a personalised Zones Toolkit.  Examples of activities include walks, a quiet space, calming music, deep pressure, yoga.
  • Regulation activities take place throughout the day and include sensory circuits in the hall, use of exercise equipment in the corridors, reflex therapy foot massage and yoga sessions.
  • Physical activities include weekly street dance and cricket sessions.  Each term we close the staff car park and turn it into a cycle area so the students and staff can use a range of bikes and go-karts.  Outside of Endeavour, students enjoy woodland walks and swimming sessions.
  • Creative activities try to incorporate students' interests and have included collaging story displays, sewing an apron for baking as well as visits from puppet and drama groups, Music for Autism and Suzanne & Tracey from Signing Hands.

This section of our curriculum is supported by our Occupational Therapy team.
